First up on our adventure is Bangor’s longest operating brewery, Sea Dog Brewing Company. Operating in a converted shoe factory on Bangor’s Historic Waterfront, Sea Dog has been brewing ales since 2002. Brewing on a custom built Peter Austin designed brewing system, Sea Dog is able to replicate traditional British-Style Ales employing traditional malts, hops and a unique yeast strain. The Ringwood yeast strain is the key to Sea Dog’s use of open fermentation; an old-school method of fermentation only used in a few breweries at this time. A tour of the brewery and samples in the tap room are included. Growlers and merchandise are available for purchase.

Next will be the shiny new stainless tanks at Geaghan Brothers Brewing Co’s new 20 barrel facility in Brewer. Geaghans has been setting the standard in our area for several years now in their Restaurant and Pub in Bangor, but this newly opened facility will allow their beer to reach beyond the Pub walls. Although brewing very clean, crisp and approachable beers is their mantra, they also know how to ramp it up in the specialty department. They have invited us in for a private tasting and tour of their beautiful facility with one of the brewery staff. We’ll even have time for a round or two of cornhole. The tour includes samples and of course there will be growlers and merchandise to purchase and take home with you.

                Finally we arrive at Mason’s Brewing Company. A small specialty Craft Brewery located on the Historical Penobscot River in the City of Brewer.  A “Destination” providing patrons with a craft beer experience like no other in the state. Mason’s Brewing Company is housed in a 6400 sq ft historic grain mill replica offering a number of rotating taps as well as an elevated dining experience including items from its West Coast gastropub inspired menu.

Mason’s Brewing Company’s handcrafted beers are brewed in small 20 barrel batches under the close personal attention of the owner Chris Morley and Brewers Forrest Brown and Scott Magnun. Applying traditional brewing methods combined with the latest brewing equipment and technologies will ensure consistently excellent taste, whether packaged in kegs or served of the brite tanks directly. The tour includes samples and of course there will be growlers and merchandise to purchase and take home with you.

At the end of this local tour, we will drop you off at the back deck of Nocturnem Draft Haus, where you are invited to come in and share outstanding burgers and beer with your new found friends.  Cheers!
